Hawk and Cicada
My friend Lucy has posted photos of a fierce-looking hawk and a cicada emerging from its shell.
I’ve often seen cicada shells clinging to tree trunks or lying on the sidewalk, but I’ve never seen the insect actually emerging. Very cool.

I really like the photos. Growing up I always thought cicadas were cool but creepy—especially the sounds they made. Their SSSHHH SSSHHH SSSHHHing always stuck me at once as incredibly romantic and very scary.
