Muhammad’s Tire Mecca
A new business has opened in my neighborhood in Brooklyn, with a somewhat startling name.

Not at all. I just thought it might be considered a bit sacrilegious for a Muslim to use the name of Mecca to sell tires. I remember a small scandal years ago over “Jesus Jeans.”
I don’t believe they are trying to use the name Mecca to sell tires. In fact when people say “Mecca” it refers to either where things originated or can get a variety of things in good quality. For example they say New York is the Mecca of Boxing, Basketball, Hip Hop etc. There adding Mecca to say that NY is where it all started but when it comes to selling products the name “Mecca” is used to say they have quality in great quantity.
I’d tend to agree with Hussain, I hear “Mecca” added to lots of phrases like he said, just meaning that it is “the place” for that particular subject. I don’t think it is offensive; but idk, there probably would be some Muslims who may take offense at it.

What is so startling about Muhammad’s Tire Mecca? Im sure there would be no problem with it being Joe’s Tire Shop. Im guessing your just another Islamophobe.
